UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will wear down and will require replacement. It is crucial to match the dimensions of the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a modern handle that can be installed on doors that are new or replacement double glazing handles. Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of robust materials and are suitable for multi point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and they utilize the same screws and spindle to fix them. They are easily fitted on new or existing uPVC/Composite door.

The sprung lever design allows the handle to be positioned and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles. This will ensure the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is especially useful in doors with smaller door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A lever that is shorter is a good choice for doors that have latches that can be opened by a thumb turn on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles on doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle, or two spindles, inline or offset. They are generally used on UPVC double glazed doors. They are available in a variety of variations and finishes.

The handles have been tested to at least 200,000 cycles and are available in several finishes including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.

All UPVC lever pads for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on a uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is usually an advantage when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are spring-loaded, which solves the issue of handles hanging from their horizontal position when they are not in use.

It is crucial to ensure that the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting a replacement handles for upvc windows UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often called the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres which is a crucial aspect in ensuring that you have the correct handles.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but can be utilized on other types of door. They work by using a key to unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned to those in the lock body, allowing them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. external door handles and internal doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is vital. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles receive. For instance, exterior doors require an extra secure cylinder, while internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that increase security, like anti-drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder must be measured accurately to ensure it's the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in its position, you can remove it. It is crucial to not have a extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the risk of attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in a different direction. This will help to deflect the attack and keep your doors safe.

Certain cylinders are constructed to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common method of attack on cylinders, which is where the break line of the lock is attacked using a special tool to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a much faster and easier way to gain access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which can hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located in the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to bring your multipoint lock handles back to their resting position after use. These handles for upvc windows used to have no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This simple component is the best solution to solve this issue. It also prevents your upvc door from becoming stuck in either the closed or open position since they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes have been specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks that are sprung They will not work with unsprung multipoint handles and you must have a bespoke hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are fitted with a square cut out which allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and they are supplied individually.
