Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design allows them to be maneuvered easily even in tight spaces.

For an easy ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. They are susceptible, however to punctures. Be prepared with a repair set.

Frame made of sturdy material

Figures have just been released revealing that the three-wheeled vehicle - a symbol of the noughties of more money than sense is in a decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers that can handle a wider range of terrain, yet still look stylish and easy to push.

The rule is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with bumpy ground and rough pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear, make it easier to move and more stable when walking downhill or in difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn and 3 wheeler pushchair off road year old and found that it was able to handle cobbles, grass rough roads, dirt tracks, and kerbs. She noted that it was sturdy to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require periodic pumping) have suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my children.

The size and shape of the seat is a further factor to think about. You'll want it to be big enough for your child's comfort and you will also want it to be able to recline for them to lie flat. Some three wheel pushchair-wheel buggies have the option of lying flat, which allows the child to face you, while other buggies only permit a parent-facing option.

The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and wet walks. This buggy can be used as a one-person unit from birth and then adapts to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth to age 4, and comes with a bumper with a rain cover, an upgraded 5-point harness, and a large padded seat. Storage options are also great with a large storage basket and zip pockets on the hood and an extra pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Wheels with a larger diameter

Larger wheels means that your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain - perfect for off-road buggies. In addition, they allow you to maneuver the buggy through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have swivel front wheels to help you navigate around tight corners, whereas others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability with the speed at which they can be pushed. This is also helpful in the event that you hit a tree root or stray curb, since the front wheel will lift up to keep you from hitting it.

A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres. This means they can handle many different terrains and are more flexible than four wheelers. They're also lighter. However, they're prone to punctures so you'll need to have a repair kit, spare tube, and pump on hand.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and the Venicci Carbo lux are among our top 3-wheelers. Both buggies feature larger wheels that, according to MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to easily move up and down kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".

Buggies with larger wheels may be quite large, and may struggle to fit in tight spaces. This is a problem when you're using it for a jogger or to be able to get through narrow doorways when out and about. Most models come with compact folding options, which let you remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.

Easy to Manoeuvre

A three-wheeler can be more maneuverable for children. The way they are built ensures that the front wheels rotate on a dime and are really maneuverable, making them ideal for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles and bumpy pavements as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler. she said: "The Terrain is a joy to maneuver on rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was especially useful." I was also impressed by how well it coped with kerbs, especially when using the brake operated by hand. It was very stable for descending or on a rough terrain."

The only drawback of this amazing maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy's bigger wheels sometimes mean that it will struggle in tight spaces, something to be aware of if you live in a metropolitan region. If this is a concern then a 4-wheel buggy may be better for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars are the ideal way to protect your child from scrapes and bumps when out and about. These bumper bars are simple to install, and will allow your child to feel secure and safe while out and out and about.

Created to match the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar has an upholstered and soft surface that provides a comfortable spot for your child to hang to while walking. The sturdy construction and durable design ensure that your child can take a stroll around town without worrying about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far in the direction of.

The sling seat made of fabric sits in the frame, snugly as opposed to over it as modular seats. It provides the lowest centre of gravity at the ideal height for your infant and also providing great weight distribution for a simple kerb pop (it takes less effort to push the buggy up and over the curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's great on grass and cobbles. It's also a great option for running thanks to its air-filled tyres as well as a locking swivel wheels.

Comfort

With perfect design, engineering and weight distribution this kind of buggy is able to change direction on a dime and be a breeze to steer with just one hand; and all Mountain Buggies are tested to the same rigorous stability standards and tests as 4-wheel buggies.

The Sport's clever design places the sling seat made of fabric inside the frame, not over it like modular seats. This allows it to have lower center of gravity and makes it more comfortable to push, has a less weighty curb-pop (you don't have to put in the same effort to raise the buggy's nose over the curb), and offers more stability and balance. With the 16" rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled, you can enjoy a smoother, more comfortable jogging.

The only stroller that is all-terrain in our collection that has a parent-facing seat which can also accommodate an infant car seat or carrycot, you can make sure your family is prepared for every adventure - beginning from the first day and for many years to come!

It's not the only reason to adore this buggy Our MFM reviewer Kath was impressed by how spacious it is as well. There's a easily accessible, large basket that is quite spacious for a buggy that's this big. Additionally, there's an excellent pouch on the back of the unit, and 2 smaller mesh pockets underneath the hood, where you can keep your phone and keys.
